Study Abroad Programs on the Ups
As we’ve reported in past Global Advisor issues, the world continues to bounce back from COVID-19, and with that, we have seen enrollment spikes for inbound and outbound programs. Earlier this year, we took a closer look at the inbound numbers.
Let’s explore some recent information on outbound programs over this past year and what is forecasted. According to the International Education Exchange (IEE) 2023 Spring Snapshot, 96% of participating schools anticipate study abroad student enrollment will stabilize and/or increase for the 2023/2024 school year. This is incredible news seeing as though, in 2021, 43% of institutions canceled their study abroad programs and opted for online learning, which decreased the number of students participating. With the anticipation of stable enrollment numbers, 98% of institutions have reverted to in-person-only learning programs with some options for online learning. |

We’re optimistic that these numbers will keep growing, and eventually, student participation will return to pre-pandemic levels. Now is the time to think about your outbound programs and how to ensure your students’ health while out of the country. GeoBlue offers outbound insurance products and services specifically designed to fit the needs of student study abroad programs. These programs feature important benefits like no-cost telemedicine services and medical evacuation. |
